After you leave the hospital
- A small drain may be placed to remove excess fluid; it stays 1–4 days and is removed in the office — you'll get a call to set that up.
- Wear an athletic supporter with gauze inside for 7 days; change the gauze daily for 4 days or until the drain is removed.
- Ice the area for the first 48 hours — never more than 20 minutes at a time.
- Swelling and bruising of the scrotum are normal and can last 1–2 weeks.
- No showering for 24–48 hours, or until the drain is out.
- Minimize activity and don't lift more than 10 pounds for 14 days.
- Sexual activity may resume after 7 days.
